O perioadă bună am zis ca este OK să am cărțile în format digital pe Amazon Kindle și comoditatea este un factor important în decizia asta, dar un eveniment recent cu Facebook m-a făcut să mă gândesc mai bine la decizia asta. Recent Facebook mi-a cerut să mă identific cu act de identitate și nu accepta permisul de conducere de UK.
Mesajul spunea că dacă nu îmi este acceptată identificarea, atunci îmi va fi închis contul de Facebook. Nedrept, aș zice, dar nu m-ar fi speriat prea tare. Facebook nu mai are demult importanța pe care o avea pentru mine. Din fericire a acceptat pașaportul, dar asta m-a făcut să mă gândesc serios la tot felul de conturi online pe care le am și dependența mea de informațiile de acolo. Așa ajungem la Amazon.
Pe Amazon am 162 de ebook-uri și, dacă Amazon îmi închide contul pentru varii motive în viitor, atunci NU am șansa de a-mi lua cărțile de acolo pentru că nu sunt interoperabili cu alte platforme de citit cărți. Cu alte cuvinte, nu îti poți muta lucrurile în altă parte. Așadar, pregătesc lista de cărți de mai jos în ideea că voi avea măcar numele cărților în caz că pierd contul în viitor. Ideal ar fi să cumpăr variantele fizice ale cărților, deși arunc comoditatea pe geam. Viitoarele cărți le voi cumpăra în format fizic.
